When is the present perfect tense used? The present perfect tense is used to describe an action that happened in the past, but has a connection to the present. The present perfect tense is also sometimes called the present perfect simple tense. The auxillary verb "have" is always used with the present perfect tense. The present prefect tense is used in the following situations:	How is the present perfect continuous tense used? The present perfect continuous tense is a tense that is a tense that is sometimes confusing. It refers to an action that started in the past, but has continued to the present or has just finished.The present perfect continuous tense uses the auxiliary verb "have/has been" and verb+ing added to the main verb. The present perfect continuous tense is used when:
There is a connection with the past. Урьд өмнө болсон үйл явдалтай уялдаатай.	The action started in the past. Үйл явдал өнгөрсөнд эхэлсэн.
The exact time of the action is not known. Яг хэзээ болоод өнгөрсөн нь тодорхойгүй.	The action continued at the time of speaking/writing. Тухайн үйл явдлын тухайн яригдаж байх үедээ үргэлжилж байсан.
"For" and "since" can be used to state the time of the action. Цаг хугацааг тодорхойлоход since, for-г ашиглаж болно.	Оr the action just finished at the time of speaking/writing. Эсвэл үйл явдал яг болж байх үедээ дөнгөж болоод дууссан.
The action is not completed at the time of speaking/writing. Үйл явдал яг хүүрнэж байх үедээ бүрэн гүйцэд дуусаагүй.	The statement answers "how long" an action has been happening. Уг мэдэгдэлийн хариу "хэр удаан" хугацаанд болоод өнгөрч байна вэ гэсэн байдалд хариулагдана.
The action happened before you expect. Үйл явдал чамайг яг болно гэж мэдээгүй байхад болсон.	The action has happened continuously with stopping. Үйл явдал өнгөрөн үргэлжиж байгаад дуусдаг.
The action has been repeated numerous time, and is expected to be repeated in the future. Үйл явдал урьд өмнө хэд хэдэн удаа давтагдаж байсан, мөн ирээдүйдээ дахин давтагдах магадлалтай.
Example I am not hungry. I have eaten at the school canteen. Би өлсөөгүй. Би сургуулийн цайны газарт юм идчихлээ. I have learned English since 1956. Би 1956 оноос хойш англи хэл сурч байна. We have not known her for very long. Бид түүнийг тийм ч удаан хугацаанд мэдэхгүй. Have you been to China? Та Хятадад байсан уу? Has she finished her college? Тэр эмэгтэй коллежоо төгссөн үү?
