Adverbs (Дайвар үгүүд)

Adverbs are words that modify a verb, an adjective, another verb. As we will see, adverbs often tell when, where, why, or under what conditions something happens or happened. Adverbs frequently end in -ly, however some words ends differently. Adverbs can modify adjectives but an adjective cannot modify an adverb.

Дайвар үг нь үйл үгийн шинж чанар, байр байдал, хугацаа зэрэг давтамжийг заадаг биеэ даасан үгсийн аймаг юм. Мөн дайвар үг тэмдэг нэр болон өөр дайвар үгийн шинж чанар, нөхцөл байдал, яасан, юу болсон талаарх байдлыг онцолдог. Ихэвчлэн дайвар үг "ly"-төгсгөлөөр төгссөн байдаг.

Example:

* Үйл үгиий онцлохдоо: He drove fast. (Тэр хурдан жолоодсон)

* Тэмдэг нэрийг онцлохдоо: He drove a very fast car. (Тэр маш хурдан жолоодсон)

* Өөр дайвар үгийг онцлохдоо: She walked quite slowly. (Тэр нилээн аажуухан алхасан)

* Зарим тохиолдолд дайвар үг "ly" төгсгөлөөр төгсөхгүй анхныхаа үндсэн хэлбэртэйгээ адил төгсдөг. өөрөөр хэлбэл тэмдэг нэр нь ч тэр дайвар үг нь ч тэр ижил хувирдаг.

Example:

hard-hard

late-late

long-long

fast-fast

early-early

* Зарим тохиолдолд дүрмээс гажууд тэс өөр хэлбэрээр хувирдаг.

Example: good-well (Тэмдэг нэрээр good гэсэн үг маань дайвар үгээр well гэж хувирч байна)
