The LION & the MOUSE

One day a great lion lay asleep in the sunshine

A little mouse ran across his paw and woke him up.

The great lion grabbed the little mouse and lifted him up by his tail. The little mouse cried, "Oh please, let me go lion, some day I may help you."

The lion laughed at the thought that the little mouse could be of any use to him. But he was a good-natured lion, and set the mouse free.

Not
long after, the lion was caught in a net. He tugged and pulled with all his might, but the ropes were too strong. Then he roared loudly. The little mouse heard him, and ran to the spot where the lion was stuck.

"Be still, dear lion, and I will set you free. I will chew on the ropes until they break." With his sharp little teeth, the mouse cut the ropes, and the lion came out of the net.

"You laughed at me once," said the mouse, "You thought I was too little to help you. But see, a tiny, little mouse can do great things."

From that day on, the lion respected the animals smaller than him and kept his kind-hearted ways whenever he saw an animal in need.

The Three Little Pigs

There were three little pigs and they went to seek their fortune.

The first pig built his straw house. Soon a wolf knocked on the door and said, "Little pig, little pig, let mecome in." The pig knew better, and said, "No, no by the hair of my chinny chin chin."

The Wolf answered, "Then I'll huff and I'll puff andI'll blow your house in." So he huffed and he puffedand he blew the house in, and chased the little pig far away.

The second pig built a new stick home. Alongcame the wolf, hungrier now, who said, "Little pig, little pig, let me come in." The second little pig said, "No, no by the hair of my chinny chin chin."

"Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in." So he huffed and he puffed and he blew down thestick house, and chased the pig far far away.

The third little pig built a strong brick house. So thewolf visited her and said, "Little pig, little pig, let mecome in." But the wise pig said, "No, no, by the hairof my chinny chin chin."

So the wolf huffed, and he puffed, and puffed and huffed, and huffed and puffed, but he could not blow the house in. So the wolf decided to climb up the chimney.

Down the chimney came the wolf, only to find the pig seated at a table with a full meal for two. Thepig shared the food with his new friend the wolf, and showed him how to enjoy many other delicious foods.

The smart little pig went on to live a very happy and peaceful life, with her two best friends, who had returned and built their own brick houses beside hers.
